Distance doesn't matter anymore with the new online meyhane street!

This winter, a pioneering project - an online meyhane street - is coming to life by Meyhane Elsewhere with the support of Yeni Rakı. “Meyhaneler Sokağı," an Istanbul Elsewhere project, welcomes its regulars in January, February, and March at the world's biggest meyhane – Meyhane Elsewhere.

The project is being described as an effort to understand, discover and enjoy the meaning behind the Istanbulite identity. But with one major difference; from an outside perspective. How does an Istanbulite (especially if they live abroad) remember their city, how do they tell others, what smell, which song makes them remember their Istanbuliteness? These are the questions Meyhane Elsewhere is hoping to find the answers to with this unique online meyhane street.

Meyhane Elsewhere regularly hosts different meyhane series, including; Vakt-i Kainat, Vakt-i Nefaset, and Vakt-i Kıraat. And it is run by Tan Morgül and Memet Ali Alabora with the vision of bringing joy to friends from all over the universe, avid readers, and gastronomy enthusiasts with these focused meyhane concepts. Now everyone can book a table or open their own online meyhane, free of charge on the gather-in platform.

So far, several popular meyhanes are in line to open their doors, such as; Random Meyhane, Meyhane of the Lonely, Meyhane of Lovers, Meyhane of Films. The beautiful thing about Meyhaneler Sokağı is that everyone can create an online meyhane with their own interests and eliminate the distances or restrictions caused by the pandemic. Whether the people you want to share your meyhane is close or a million miles away, you will be able to share a rakı experience and fulfill your longings with them. Of course, this is all for that unsurpassed rakı conversation!

The Gather-in platform and Meyhane Elsewhere aim to bring people together in cozy Meyhaneler Sokağı, and everyone who calls themselves Istanbulites is welcomed!
